Shinnosuke & Xion:

Shinnosuke, I don't know if you have your eyesight back. Probably not. So I'll save myself the headache and address this to both of you. Xion can read it to you that way if it's needed.

I don't know why the hell the two of you were outside after curfew. I don't think I'll ever know, either. But you're both idiots who should have stayed alive instead of bailing on us. Watch over each other and watch over Natalie, too, please. Punch some teeth in if necessary. Play nice with each other but not necessarily with everyone else. Those of us who are left over here will try to figure things out before we wind up with a population of one.

Before I forget: Xion, thank you for the letter. I'm sorry I won't be able to do what you asked me to.

[This one is little more than a note, almost as if the author couldn't decide on what to say. The sender is also unidentified, though... Natalie should have seen the handwriting enough times by now.]

We needed you alive.
That wasn't fair of you.

[Replace "we" with "I", honestly.]

[Jason has been, unsurprisingly, missing since the end of last night's trial. Though he watched the execution from beginning to an end, even sticking around to watch Percy burn Will's corpse at the bonfire — he obviously wasn't among the crowd.

Fortunately for Noctis, it won't be that hard to find Jason later in the afternoon. He's at the Watering Hole, sitting on the docks with some cigarette stubs next to him and his notebook laid open on his lap. It seems like he's been systematically ripping pages out, setting them on fire, and watching them burn before tossing them into the water. If Noctis gets comes close enough, he might notice the pages are specifically those where he's written messages to people who have died... including those from their meetings.

Anyway, he'll apologize to the environment later. What's up?]

[... It's probably funny, in some way, that the church is where he finds her. But Jason's sense of humor has been lacking these days, and with two of their own dead? There really isn't anything laugh or joke about.

He takes a couple steps into the church, approaching the pew where she's seated but not really making any moves to join her. Instead, he places his hand on the nearest surface, tapping out:

Do you mind if I join you?]
impulsiveness: (072)
[... He might have ran out of the meeting a teeny bit early to make it so he's not cutting it that close to curfew, but. You know. Just like Damian did for him all those weeks ago, Jason swings by when there is nobody else around.

And he signs: Still think this is for show?

Trying to make light of the situation but he is also #dead inside, bye.]

Seizaburo:

I'm sorry you had to go out like that. Even if we found out you helped MURDER someone, you still didn't deserve that. I hope that you're in less pain now, wherever the hell you guys are.

I'll keep an eye on Shinnosuke and everyone else. I think he might be writing something for you soon, but let me know if he doesn't. I'll give him a good beating as incentive. The guy needs to learn how to appreciate his friends, you know? And if you find out anything you think could help us over here on the living side of things, write back. You'll have to work around the censor, but don't be afraid to get creative. I don't mind figuring out a puzzle.

Watch each other's back and stay safe. We're trying to end this as soon as possible to get you guys out of there, assuming I'm not dead by next week.

Yuna:

I'm not good at this, so I'll get to the point quickly.

I'm sorry I couldn't do anything to help you. I went out there knowing the Sheriff wanted you dead and still didn't do shit to keep you away from the stocks. Milla said not to blame ourselves. Told me you would have gone out there anyway even if I told you what was up, but I still feel like a shitty friend. I should have told you something I learned the other week: Those who are chosen to die in this place are screwed no matter what anyone might try to do about it. It's why Annabeth died, why Russell died and why you died.

I don't know if telling you that would have changed your mind. Probably not; you were pretty damn stubborn when you wanted to be. But if anything, I'm glad to know you went down swinging. Thank you for protecting Milla and I, Yuna, even if I would have rather it be the other way. You didn't deserve to die.

If nothing else I hope you're all safe. Watch out for each other while we try to end this game once and for all, and don't forget to write back if you get your hands on any important information. The letters we get back are censored, but be creative to work around that. I've always liked solving riddles, so don't worry about it. Anything that gets through is going to end up being useful to us.

Thank you for the bookmark and notebook. Both are getting plenty of use. I'll need to repay the favor once we're both on the living side of things again.

[The church has become his go-to place when he needs to quietly process things, so he's the tiniest bit surprised when he walks in to find Rin there. Not enough to turn him off entirely from entering all the way, but enough that he blinks at her when he spots her.

... He's not very good at greetings nowadays, so she'll have to excuse him. But approaching her, he holds up a hand and waves it in greeting. Hello, old friend. With the pile of corpses in the Cinema, it's a good time as any to catch up about what happened with the skeletons they found in the graveyard. There's no harm in talking about that, anyway, unless she has trouble dealing with body doubles.]
impulsiveness: (072)
[It takes him a while to take care of #corpsegate, but once that's settled? He makes his way back to the hotel, scrubbing his hands clean on the legs of his pants at he does. It's while walking there that he spots Papika, and, uh. Well. He's kind of speckled with blood. It's nasty. But his ability to feel any shame about that is completely and utterly wrecked, so.

He whistles to get her attention, waving at her once he does. Hello, Papika. He heard you had a very lovely week. How are you doing, pal?]
impulsiveness: (043)
[... He gives Percy space after watching the whole debacle with Papika and Xion play out, opting to verify the state of all their other corpses while Percy does as he will. It's only after the bonfire is lit and Percy is lugging Harry's body into the flames that Jason approaches him, quietly. Hesitantly. Not sure of what he's capable of accomplishing here, but he can't let him friend do this by himself.

So—

Coming to a stop next to him once the body is in there, he gently places a hand on Percy's shoulder while casting him a look of concern. Will he be okay? Probably not. But Jason doesn't need his tongue to confirm that.]
impulsiveness: (057)
[It's past midnight and Jason is just about ready to give up and return to the hotel, but there is still one more location he hasn't checked.

Approaching the Post-Office, he lingers at the entrance for a moment. Bruce's corpse isn't here, he has to remind himself. The building has been scrubbed clean from top to bottom. But he can still see the blood splattered all over the teller's booth, his (father's?) partner's corpse slumped over as robots clawed their way out of his stomach. God.

Now isn't the time for a trip down memory lane, however. With no tongue to announce his presence, he knocks on the door frame as he takes cursory look inside the building. Where in the world is Xion Sandiego?]
impulsiveness: (073)
[Well. Today sure sucked! In particular, it sucked for Barnham. Which is why, when Jason spots him while on his way back to the hotel, it only takes him a second before he decides to approach him.

Hello, Barnham. No words of comfort (for obvious reasons) here, but Jason does offer him a wave and a look of concern. Is he, uh... Is he going to be okay? Probably not. But it's polite to ask.

Oh, well.]
impulsiveness: (023)
[AND IN REVENGE FOR ALL THIS DRAMATIC BAT BULLSHIT—

Damian is getting abruptly grabbed and dragged into one of the alleyways between buildings, shortly after the end of the trial. Hi. Hello. How do you do, on this fine and lovely evening where nothing has gone wrong?]
impulsiveness: (073)
[Considering Sara's usual haunts... it doesn't take Jason long to track her down an hour or so after the investigation. He's tired, his head hurts where he injured himself, and every inch of his body feels like it's made out of lead. But even so, he still saunters up to the Saloon and plops himself down next to Sara.

Sliding his notebook over, it looks like he came prepared to talk to her. That, or he's had to write this sentence down so many time that he knows the page it's written on by heart.]

How are you holding up?

[... Asks the teen, still slightly covered in blood and looking like he needs a nap. Anyway!! Let's talk about Sara's feelings.]
impulsiveness: (043)
[It takes him a while to track Felix down. Partially because he has other people to look after, but mostly because of his own hesitance. Once he takes to the roofs and starts scouting for their resident widower, it's only a matter of minutes before he makes it to the Post Office.

Standing on the roof, there... isn't anything he can say. Obviously. But he tries to make his presence known by clearing his throat, standing near the edge just in case this is a Bad Idea and delivering Chane's letter isn't worth it.

Please find your chill again, Felix? Or don't. Either way, Jason is here as a favor to a now very dead friend.]
impulsiveness: (073)
[So. The Homestead. It's not his first choice for a meeting of this type, but after a couple days of playing telephone and running back and forth, that's where he leads Natalie. He has a notebook and pen ready to be able to communicate throughout this, but for Natalie, he carefully taps out the following messages:

Are you okay?

and—

We can postpone if you want.

One day he, too, will be able to stop worrying about Natalie Goodman.

Though it might be too late for the second bit, seeing of how Yuna is definitely in line-of-sight by then. He seems to notice this as he finishes tapping out the messages, pursing his lips and lowering the notebook and pen. Oh, well. Here goes... a thing. A thing.]
impulsiveness: (017)
[It's closer to Wednesday morning than it is to Tuesday, but Jason is still far too awake to head to bed. Maybe it's the seven cups of coffee he downed during the day, or maybe it's the part where he can still see Bruce's corpse slumped over the teller's booth every time he closes his eyes. It doesn't matter, really. What matters now is that he's been trying to make it through this single page in his book for the past thirty minutes, and failing miserably.

Which is why when Yuna enters the room, he's far too eager to focus on her instead. No tongue means no verbal greeting, but he cocks an eyebrow at her before waving her hello. Though, shouldn't she be... getting ready for a slumber party with Milla right now........? A mystery.]
impulsiveness: (057)
["He told me the next list was going to be all animals."

And—

"Wednesday evenings or Thursdays."

Those are sentences that Natalie said to him while speaking about her role. Both of which, of course, come to mind shortly after Seizaburo gets crushed to death by a stampede of wild animals. It doesn't match the pattern of items showing up on the Sheriff's porch, of course, but deers are hardly inanimate objects. And having been trained by Batman himself, Jason is not one to overlook what others might consider a coincidence.

With nothing to be done for Seizaburo, he sets out to look for Natalie. He searches around the hotel, the town, the railroad station, and everywhere he could possibly think of. It's when he begins to fear she might have gone into the mines that he finds her, way too close to the lake for comfort. No tongue means he can't call out to her, obviously. So he opts to approach her as conspicuously as possible instead, clearing his throat once he's close enough.

Hello, Natalie??? Please don't do anything stupid, Natalie?????]
